E-world energy & water 2010 Confirmed Its Position as the Leading
Communication Platform of the European Energy and Water Industries

E-world Breaks All Records in the Anniversary Year

18,200 Visitors from 48 Countries Used Trade Fair and Congress

More exhibitors on a larger area and substantially more visitors - those are the final results of the tenth "E-world energy & water" which has now come to an end at Messe Essen. On an area which had grown by nine percent compared with the previous year, over 500 exhibitors presented their services and products to 18,200 trade visitors (a plus of eight percent) from 48 countries. "The concept of placing our faith in subjects close to the markets at the fair and the congress makes E-world an important driving force behind the discussions in the energy industry," emphasised both shareholders in E-world (Niels Ellwanger, Chairman of con|energy ag, and Frank Thorwirth, Chairman and CEO of Messe Essen) in view of the great success of the anniversary E-world fair in 2010.

Satisfied Exhibitors and Visitors Will Come Back for E-world 2011
"Here at E-world, we meet exactly the target groups which we want to reach," is the unanimous opinion of over 90 percent of both the exhibitors and the visitors. Nearly all of them said that they were very satisfied with the range on offer at E-world 2010 and with how it had gone. E-world is seeded as the premier fair in the European energy and water industries. That was confirmed by 95 percent of the exhibitors and by around 90 percent of the visitors. Even now, they were already saying that they wanted to come back to visit the next E-world which will take place on February 8 - 10, 2011.

The visitors were mainly interested in energy trading, renewable energies, smart energy, energy efficiency, marketing and information technology. A higher number of specialists from abroad have visited E-world. The largest groups came from Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria and Great Britain.

Future Economic Situation in the Sector is Rated as Positive
The mood at E-world 2010 was characterised by optimism. In the survey, over 90 percent of the visitors saw the future development of the economic situation in their sector as positive; 75 percent are expecting an upward tendency.

Over 200 Experts Passed on Their Knowledge at the E-world Congress
The E-world Congress was once again very well-visited with around 3,000 day guests. Over 200 experts were speakers and prompted discussions in 23 events. The largest individual event with around 1,400 participants was the 14th Expert Congress on Future Energies of EnergieAgentur.NRW ("North Rhine-Westphalia Energy Agency"). Markets, competition and the return to municipal ownership were important aspects of the conference entitled "Topical Electricity Subjects". The effect of new directives and future regulations for capacity and bottleneck management were analysed in the "Gas Trading" conference. The conferences devoted to future subjects such as smart energy, offshore wind power and CO2 storage alsoattracted an excellent number of visitors.

2nd Consulates Day with Representatives of the Consulates of 27 Countries
With over 50 participants, the 2nd Consulates Day proved to be thoroughly successful. After introductory lectures, the high-ranking representatives of the consulates of 27 countries took part in guided tours of the fair on the subjects of renewable energies and smart energy. For the guests, this resulted in interesting contacts to the companies exhibiting at E-world.

New Smart Energy Exhibition Section Was Very Popular
The exhibitors in the new "Smart Energy" sectionwerepleasedaboutanexceptionallygoodresponse.30companiesparticipated inthecooperative booth and presented their solutionsfor smart metering, energy efficiency, renewable energies or electromobility. They showed the networking of house technology and electric appliances, intelligent supply networks as well as conceptsforself-supplywithenergy."Wewillextendthissection even further next year," according to both Managing Directors of E-world GmbH, Stefanie Hamm and Klaus Reich. "The premiere this year stands at the beginning of a great movement which we are expecting in this sector. Because the subject of smart energy is right at the top of the ranking list of the interest amongst the visitors."

Connect Award at E-world 2010 Honoured All-Embracing Booth Concepts
The high-quality, unusual and well-thought-out fair booth constructions of the companies exhibiting at E-world were honoured by the presentation of the Connect Award. The companies which made the best contact to their customers with their appearance at the E-world fair have now been distinguished for the fourth time already. The independent jury consisting of renowned marketing, fair and design experts selected the best concepts in three categories: small, medium-sized and large fair booths. This time, ene’t GmbH won in the S class (booth size up to 50 square metres) and intalus GmbH in the M category (up to 150 square metres). The overall booth concept of E.ON Gastransport GmbH was convincing in the L category (over 150 square metres).

Exhibitors' Opinions

Thorsten Fincke, Events/Sponsoring, Vattenfall Europe:
“The E-world 2010 once again gave us the opportunity to meet the decision makers of the industry as well as important business partners.”

Rudolf Sommer, Corporate Head of Events, Fairs and Promotions, EnBW Systeme Infrastruktur Support GmbH:
“E-world energy & water has once more bucked the trend and, in spite of the 'media trendsetting', has shown that dialogue platforms and communication forums can set a positive tone precisely in times of felt or real crises. Unfortunately, it can be only unsufficiently imparted to anybody who was not involved how important the personal contact between the customer and the service provider is. E-world has shown that impressively again. A new record number of visitors on the first two days of the fair is once more showing that neither Twitter nor Google can replace real-time dialogue. Above all, not if it is a question of complex subjects such as energy efficiency, smart grids or smart meters.”

Dr. Jens Nixdorf, Managing Director of E.ON Energy Sales GmbH:
"E-world 2010 - for us, that representedthree intensive days with good discussions and a lot of new impetus. We are particularly glad about the absolutely positive feedback of the customers with regard to our new flexibility products and, of course, about the number of visitors to our booth which has risen substantially once again."

Melanie Schwarz and Dr. Rita Hennemann, Marketing Department of DONG Energy:
"We were happy here in Hall 1 and have had many high-quality contacts in a somewhat calmer atmosphere all in all. The colleagues were able to hold even more intensive discussions than in the past. There were alot of inquiriesto theDONG company, especially to the Wind and Trading divisions. In theElectricity division, we have been able to hold a large number of preparatory discussions for concluding contracts."

Dr. Frank-Michael Baumann,ManagingDirectorofEnergieAgentur.NRWandManager of NRW Exzellenz-Cluster Energiewirtschaft und Energieforschung ("North Rhine-Westphalia Excellence Cluster for the Energy Industry and Energy Research"):
"An E-world of records. Three full halls, very busy with visitors and very goodspecialistdiscussions.The14thExpertCongressonFutureEnergies of EnergieAgentur.NRW was a huge success once again because 1,400 visitors interested in the subject wanted to know what innovative technologies will characterise the energy region of North Rhine-Westphalia in the new decade. The subjects of modern power stations and mobility with drives suitable for the future were particular highlights. Now, we are looking forward to the World Hydrogen Conference WHEC 2010 here at Messe Essen in May."

Stefan-Jörg Göbel, Managing Director of Statkraft Markets and Head of Trading and Origination for Continental Europe:
"In the meantime, E-world has become a permanent constituent of our engagements diary and an important platform for the contact to our partners and customers. Not only for maintaining our national and international business relationships but also for concrete preliminary negotiations, this date is irreplaceable for Statkraft. We are very satisfied with how things have gone this year."

Ludwig Karg, Head of Accompanying Research into E-Energy:
"E-world is precisely the right place in order to show the innovative concepts for the electricity supply of the future. With the Smart Energy booth, it has been possible to bring together the most innovative companies and projects and to put them into one common context thematically. In this respect, the E-Energy booth forms a bracket for innovative approaches for everything to do with the subject of an intelligent, IT-based energy system. It was interesting to see how widespread the interest was, starting from small suppliers and energy service providers via IT companies right up to large utility companies."

Alexa Schalk, Customer Communication Department of enercity:
"We are pleased about more visitors and more contacts. On average, we had 15 employees in situ who were working flat out permanently. The quality of the discussions was excellent. We have attracted great attention for our new 'Electricity & Perspective' product. As a special campaign, we will auction off a five-year contract on ebay in April."

Dr. Carsten Bether, Business Development Department of Kiwigrid:
"The sense of the start of a new era is predominant in the Smart Energy section. The interest in our product was great. We attracted interest starting from utility companies and energy consultants via housing associations right up to telecommunications suppliers and hotels. The advantage of our solution is the simple and flexible networking of each device with the Internet. Within the shortest possible time, everybody has an overview of their electricity and heat management and can exert an active influence. Because that is tomorrow's energy saving."

Mark Ware, Press Spokesman of Vitol SA:
“This is the first time that Vitol has had a major presence at Essen E-World.
Overall we have found it a very effective way of interacting with existing clients and customers, meeting new clients and introducing all areas of Vitol business to a broader audience. We have enjoyed excellent support from everyone involved in arranging and supporting the event and have found it a worthwhile business investment.”

Martin Rothenberg, Head of Communication / Regional Marketing, RWE Vertrieb AG:
“E-world paid in towards two objectives at RWE: On the one hand, it has been possible to portray the performance potential of RWE, for example in the fields of electromobility and regenerative power generation. That was also illustrated by the 'Quiet Revolution' model, the power generation from wind for everyone. On the other hand, several hundred intensive sales discussions were held by the people responsible for corporate customers. As far as the utilities were concerned, we met a few dozen managing directors of municipal utilities for an exchange ofopinions.”
